Hundreds Gather in Los Angeles as the Save America Movement Launches Operation Liberty

LOS ANGELES – Today in MacArthur Park, before a crowd of hundreds of people, the Save America Movement (SAM) launched Operation Liberty — a national rapid-response and civic empowerment initiative to document ICE actions and help
provide support to impacted families.

The event unveiled specialized rapid response vehicles — Liberty Van One, Two, and Three — that will be staffed by trained volunteers, including lawyers, clergy, veterans, and videographers. The Liberty Vans will be deployed to document ICE raids in real time and offer legal, moral, and spiritual support.

“Los Angeles will always stand with families under threat,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “Angelenos are showing the country that when our communities are targeted, we respond with solidarity, with resources, and with an unbreakable commitment to
justice.”

In the coming weeks, Operation Liberty will continue recruiting and training volunteers to staff these vehicles throughout Southern California — deploying in early October to help support impacted communities.

Bishop William J. Barber II, who helped lead the launch, declared: “The local organizations that have come together to welcome these Liberty Vans to LA will work with the community to send video crews to sites of ICE raids to shine a light on the immoral actions of masked agents and to spotlight the moral response of neighbors who are standing together to say, ‘Not in our name.’”

Children and families impacted by ICE raids shared emotional testimony, reminding the crowd why the initiative is urgent. “What happened to me is happening to many of us. We deserve respect, not persecution,” said Pedro Pardomo, a main plaintiff against ICE. “Nobody should be kidnapped from the street like what happened to me. Nobody should live in fear because they want to work with honesty. I know this, in times like this, when the judges in our courts fail, when cruelty becomes law, it’s only the people who can save the people.”

Operation Liberty represents the first national initiative of its kind, with Los Angeles serving as the launch site. Partner organizations include the National Day Laborer Network (NDLON), Full Rights for Immigration Coalition, Southeast Leadership Network, VC Defensa, Pueblo y Salud, Honduran Alliance Los Angeles, Hermandad Mexicana Nacional, and many others.

“Today was a powerful reminder that America’s true strength is in its people, united,” said Fabian Núñez, SAM Steering Committee member. “With Liberty One, Two, and Three now on the road, the message is clear: authoritarianism will not go unchecked.”
